Artemis Handmade Plate

Sitting in a dusty old box on the floor of an antique shop hidden in a corner I found this stunning plate! The plate seems to depict Artemis the Greek Maiden Goddess of the Hunt.

Artemis is the ancient Greek goddess of the hunt, nature, wild animals, the forest, childbirth, children and chastity. It was said that often she would be seen roaming the forests and mountains. Artemis was also a patron of diseases and healing, especially when it involved women and children. 

This gorgeous plate would make a lovely addition to home and altar, especially for devotees of Artemis herself. Though not much is known about this plate, it appears to be copper due to the colouration on the back. This plate has not been polished and comes in as in condition.
